I have taken numerous classes over the years with lots of trainers and PJ is by far the best trainer I know.  I made the mistake of taking one of my Goldens to a different "positive" trainer when she was young, and that person did things to her that never should have been done - there was nothing positive about it.  That dog is a mental case to this day.  I wish I had discovered PJ before my Ceiliegh was "damaged", but PJ and I worked with her in several classes and she did come a long way.  PJ and her associates are truly positive trainers.  My dogs LOVE going to their classes.  My Lab, Hanna, received her CGC from PJ a few years ago.  My young Golden, Nelly, has taken just about all of PJ's classes:  all the obedience classes (earning her CGC), Rally-O, and is currently in Fun with Tricks with Noelle Cota.  As a result of all these classes, my dogs are well behaved and a joy to live with.  My friends come over and think my dogs are just great.  While hiking recently, I was even able to call them back to me when they took off after a couple of coyotes (Recall is SO important).  I would highly recommend PJ and her associates for all your training needs and especially if you have a problem dog.  While not all problems can be "cured", with PJ's help, they can be managed and even problem dogs, like my Ceiliegh, can live happily ever after.

PJ coaches you to be a better pet owner through hands on and fun instructions. Everything she teaches makes total sense and is easy to implement. If I emailed or called her with a question she would follow-up quickly and always inquired about the result the next time I saw her.

P.S . Ed is doing great. He got home and bragged to our others.  Tracy taught him to roll-over and I should have done that for graduation. He is so handsome!! Every other beagle we have had is wild and anxiety filled but not Ed??

Testimonial

I have had my dog, Cholo, in several of PJ's classes.  He attended "Puppy Kindergarten", "Basics", and then he did" Fun with Tricks".  I am presently taking my other dog, Rodeo, to "Rally-O" classes.  There is nothing nicer than a trained dog.  Cholo has been away from training about a year now, and still remembers things that he learned.  In reality PJ teaches me, then it's up to me how consistent I stay with my training sessions with both dogs.  When Cholo did Fun with Tricks, he learned to play piano!  He is a regular at entertaining friends, and everyone including myself is so amused with his piano playing.  PJ's classes are fun for both dog and handler.  These classes teach the dog and dog owner to focus and to strive towards having excellent dog behavior.  I am so impressed with PJ's knowledge on training.  Rodeo's first class was quite challenging, I was more frustrated than the dog.  PJ not only helps with dog behavior I think she really helped with my frustrations when I wasn't getting the immediate results that I had hoped for.  With PJ's help and continuing dog training classes, I hope to show Rodeo one day.  I recommend and would like to encourage dog owners to sign up with Dog Training by PJ.  Dogs love to think and need that stimulation as well.  Now that I have polite dogs, which equates to safe dogs,  I wouldn't want it any other way.

PJ brings great methods of training to the table, she makes the experience positive, rewarding and fun for both people and their canine companions. I would feel one hundred percent confident sending any breed, even my stubborn Bullies her way for obedience and beyond. I've seen and heard more success stories from her training styles than any others locally. We should highly value having someone so knowledgeable and helpful in Reno !

thanks

We all know you can not teach old dogs new tricks,,,right?

PJ has taught me how to instruct my old and young dogs new tricks!  I am astonished by the depth of knowledge my dogs possess as a result of her teaching.  Using a simple approach of kindness and reward, I coexist happily with four beautiful bulldogs, a breed known for stubbornness, transformed by her knowledge and effective training!  My canine family and I feel privileged to be a part of PJ’s training circle!

PJ is an outstanding trainer and a caring person.  She understands ,my dog's reactions to different situations, and realizes that sometimes it's the owners who need the training even more than the dog.  I have known PJ for a  year now and I don't know what I would have done without her - she's not only my dog trainer, she's a good friend.  It is obvious that animals are PJ's passion and that she only wants what is best for your pet.  PJ offers a perfect balance between warmth and professionalism, just what's needed when training a new pup or re-training an older dog. Her affection for animals (and people), combined with a "positive" approach to shaping behavior are outstanding.

I've had the opportunity to listen and watch P.J. Wangsness working with pet owners at our store for over two years.  Her knowledge and experience shows in dealing with some very challenging situations.  Her patience and consideration not only for the pet but the owner as well is outstanding.  In addition,  I've also seen many individuals return to thank her personally for improving their relationship with the pet they love so much.  Two of my own dogs have graduated from classes at DTBPJ and it never ceases to amaze me how much they can learn in a short amount of time if taught with positive methods.

I have Labradors  which need plenty of exercise.  When I first met P.J. I knew I found the teacher for me and my dogs.  She helps teach us how to teach our dogs to be good citizens in and outdoors, by this I mean I can have someone come over to my home and my dogs greet people very nicely rather than jumping up on them, etc. When we are out on a walk they walk nicely on a loose lead and don't disturb other dogs.  I however am always aware of my outdoor surroundings. You still want to be prepared to walk the other direction if another person doesn't have their dog walking nicely on a loose leash.  I like the classroom size. I have take from beginner, fun w/tricks, rally, brilliant buddy & canine good citizen. I have learned so much and each of my dogs are better and better for all the classes.

The training classes given to the SPCA foster puppies have been instrumental in placing them in their forever homes.  THANK YOU, P.J.
